With UFC On Fuel 7 in the books, the UFC is ready to hand out the fight night bonuses. Nedkov and Watson put on a fight of the night that ended with Watson also earning the KO bonus. Headliner Renan Barao earned the sub of the night with an armtriangle over Michael McDonald.
Saturday afternoon featured the first ever title fight on Fuel TV. UFC On Fuel TV 7 featured Renan Barao becoming the first non-Heavyweight to ever defend a UFC interim championship. Barao got himself in trouble early when he was rocked by shots against the cage from Michael McDonald. However, he adjusted his game and had Michael McDonald struggling going into the championship rounds. In round 4, McDonald got desperate on a throw and gave up his back, Barao capitalized and eventually locked in the fight-ending arm-triangle.
UFC president Dana White announced the fight night bonuses winners at the post-fight press conference:
