Live results and play-by-play for UFC on Fuel: Barao vs. McDonald, a card headlined by an interim UFC bantamweight championship bout.

The night's main event sees Renan Barao defending his UFC interim bantamweight championship against Michael McDonald. In the co-main event slot is a featherweight bout between Cub Swanson and Dustin Poirier. Light heavyweights Jimi Manuwa and Cyrille Diabate and welterweights Gunnar Nelson and Jorge Santiago also meet on the main card.

Che Mills vs. Matt Riddle - Round 1 - Riddle is trying for a takedown early and Mills lands a knee while defending. Riddle does manage to get the takedown after working for it a bit more but Mills is back up quickly. They separate and Mills lands a jab. Mills throws a right and Riddle ducks under for a takedown but Mills stands up again using the cage. They separate again and Mills lands a leg kick, and another, and again. They trade punches and Riddle lands a right after Mills landed a left. 10-9 Riddle
Round 2 - Mills with a big kick and Riddle takes him down. Riddle on top in north-south and he's is thinking about trying for the choke but doesn't and moves to side control and lands some punches to the head and face of Mills. Riddle ends up moving to the back now and Mills is sitting up with Riddle's back against the cage but the round ends. 10-9 Riddle.
Round 3 - Mills is landing some big punches and kicks to start the round and Riddle is a bit more willing to trade this round. Riddle does end up getting the takedown though and he lands a big elbow. Riddle goes for a kimura and Mills reverses and lands a few punches and the round ends. Riddle won this fight.

James Te-Huna vs. Ryan Jimmo - Round 1 - Te-Huna pushes him right into the fence. Te-Huna throws some knees to the leg and the ref resttarts them. Big head kick lands by Jimmo and Te-Huna drops. Jimmo is following up with some really big punches. Te-Huna manages to survive somehow and things are settling down. Jimmo working from the top now and the round ends. 10-8 Jimmo.
Round 2 - Jimmo with a jab and a missed kick. Te-Huna tries for a takedown and can't get it so he is working for a takedown against the cage now. Te-Huna does manage to get the takedown about two minutes into the round. Te-Huna eventually moves to side control and then into full mount. Jimmo pulls him back to guard but Te-Huna is blasting him with some big shots. 10-9 Te-Huna.
Round 3 - They clinch up after Te-Huna can't get a takedown and Jimmo pushes him into the cage. Jimmo looking for a takedown. Te-Huna reverses against the cage and lands a big elbow and some punches. Te-Huna pushes him into the cage again. Te-Huna gets the takedown and he lands an elbow and some good punches and grinds away to the end of the round. 10-9 Te-Huna makes it a draw in my eyes though I'm expecting Te-Huna to take a decision.

Gunnar Nelson vs. Jorge Santiago - Round 1 and 2 - My browser crashed and I lost two rounds of play by play. Basically it amounts to this: Santiago won round 1, Nelson won round 2.
Round 3 - Nelson landing some decent shots early, getting a nice right hand in. Santiago gets inside and initiates a clinch. Santiago gets tagged and he's hurting. Nelson has him against the cage and is putting it on him a little bit while Santiago looks beat. Nelson tagging him with a big uppercut now. Santiago with a big right at the end of the round but this is Nelson's fight.

Jimi Manuwa vs. Cyrille Diabate - Round 1 - They end up in the cage fairly quickly but Manuwa turns and gets the big takedown into side control. Diabate does manage to get up at the 2:30 mark without taking much damage. Manuwa with a bit head kick and now Diabate lands a big knee and Manuwa takes him down, but then has him stand back up. Diabate lands a big knee to the body after Manuwa did some good work standing, so Manuwa took him right down. 10-9 Manuwa
The doctor checks Diabate's leg between rounds and waives the fight off saying Diabate "may have torn his calf muscle." Jimi Manuwa wins by TKO (dr. stoppage), round 1.
Cub Swanson vs. Dustin Poirier - Round 1 - They trade low kicks early. Swanson lands a punch to the side of Dustin's head and stumbles him, mostly a balance issue though. Swanson with a hard right hand. Poirier throwing a few strikes of his own and now pushes Swanson into the cage. Now they're exchanging and Swanson lands a big uppercut and a head kick. Dustin is hurt so he grabs a leg and gets a takedown and is on top with a minute left. Swanson manages to get to his feet and land a few strikes to end the round. 10-9 Swanson.
Round 2 - Poirier with a hard body shot and that hurt Swanson and slowed him down. Dustin pushing in looking for the takedown. Now Poirier working long kicks to keep him off and he gets a big takedown. Swanson tries to lock up an omoplata and he uses it to get to his feet. Poirier pushes him into the cage again and is looking for the takedown but Swanson is threatening with a kimura. Dustin with a nice combo adna a leg kick. Good fight. 10-9 Poirier evens it up for me.
Round 3 - Dustin with a few punches and he pushes Swanson into the cage. Poirier landing some very good punches now and Swanson is forced to cover up. Now Cub gets a takedown as it appeared that Dustin was taking over. Swanson ends up taking the back. Swanson doing a good job not getting shook from the back. Swanson takes mount in the scramble but Poirier gets to his feet. Swanson with a big head and arm throw. 10-9 Swanson.

Renan Barao vs. Michael McDonald - Round 1 - Barao misses a spinning kick and McDonald misses a counter shot. Barao got the takedown but McDonald got space and escaped back to his feet. McDonald lands a good left hand. Barao looking for the takedown again. Barao looking for it again and McDonald hurts him badly with some punches. Barao recovers and starts landing some big punches of his own and now gets the takedown. 10-9 McDonald in a very close round.
Round 2 - Barao got a takedown but McDonald was able to get up. McDonald has done a good job of countering leg kicks but Barao lands a good front kick to the face. McDonald with another counter right hand. They trade punches and Barao gets in nicely. Another nice round. 19-19
Round 3 - McDonald comes forward but doesn't land. Knee by Barao and he follows up with some punches but McDonald returns punches and slows it back down. Barao with a nice combinationand he is inside looking for the takedown off the body lock. Barao gets him down now and is in side control. McDonald manages to shrug him off though and they're back to standing. Good round for Barao 10-9.
Round 4 - Barao gets a left hand in. McDonald with a short left of his own. McDonald stuffs a takedown. Big knee by Barao and McDonald just misses a counter. McDonald's nose is bleeding. McDonald opens up with some strikes now and Barao can't get a takedown. Barao misses a head kick. Spinning kick from Barao misses. McDonald with a nice counter right. Barao with a takedown right into back control. now to mount and he has a head and arm triangle. That looks really deep. McDonald gives the thumbs up to the ref. Thumbs up again. Barao squeezes and McDonald has to tap. Wow. Renan Barao wins by submission (arm triangle), round 4.
