Nick Catone vs. Tom Watson set for UFC 169

Jason da Silva-USA TODAY Sports

A middleweight bout has been added to the UFC 169 event in early February.

UFC 169 is starting to come together and the most recent addition to the card is in the middleweight division. It's also a bout that is vitally important to the two combatants. The UFC News twitter feed passed along the info:

Nick Catone (9-4) tried to drop to the welterweight division, but it didn't go so well for him. A loss to T.J. Waldburger and a cancelled fight due to a brutal weight cut has sent the New Jersey native back to 185. He was 3-3 in the division and is 3-4 overall in the organization. He has lost his last two though, so he needs a win.

Tom Watson (16-6) is 1-2 in the UFC thus far, most recently dropping a decision to Thales Leites at UFC 163. The English fighter is also badly in need of a victory.

The fight will likely take place on the preliminary portion of the card. The UFC 169 headliner on February 2nd will see Dominick Cruz and Renan Barao face off to unify the UFC bantamweight title.
