According to a report from MMA Fighting, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was expected to get out of the hospital last night. He was admitted on Saturday night following his gruesome leg injury in the main event of UFC 168 where he faced off with Chris Weidman. Ariel Helwani spoke with one of Silva's managers, Jorge Guimaraes, who said that Silva would rest in a Las Vegas hotel for a night or two before traveling to his home in Los Angeles.
"He's fine," Guimaraes said when asked how Silva was doing. "Just sad and in pain."
In regards to the surgery performed, here's what the article stated:
"The successful surgery, performed by Dr. Steven Sanders, the UFC's orthopedic surgeon, inserted an intramedullary rod into Anderson's left tibia," the statement read. "The broken fibula was stabilized and does not require a separate surgery."
Silva sent out an instagram message yesterday stating that needed to be with his family, who will help him during his recovery.
