Lightweights Gleison Tibau and Michael Johnson met inside the Octagon on the UFC 168 FS1 prelims. The fight got off to a slow start as each man tried to find their gameplan. In the end, Johnson controlled the distance and used that to end the fight early in the second round.
Johnson looked to use his jab early. He stayed on the outside as Tibau looked to find a way in. Tibau closed the distance and got the clinch but couldn't hit a takedown. Johnson stayed on the outside and peppered Tibau with straight punches. Tibau responded with a couple wild shots, but really couldn't land anything solidly. The round ended with Gleison holding Johnson in the clinch.
Johnson worked from the outside again in the second round. Tibau had a lot of trouble trying to find a way inside. Finally, Johnson landed a big straight right that put Gleison down to the mount. Some obligatory ground and pound forced the stoppage.
