Miesha Tate always says some interesting things, and this is some of the most articulate speaking I've heard from her:
I'm actually very thankful to have Ronda as a rival because I truly believe if she wasn't a part of my career neither I nor women's MMA would be as far as it is. If she didn't come on to the seen with such a brash and bold attitude there's the possibility that maybe we wouldn't have gotten noticed, maybe we wouldn't have got the notoriety. She was kind of that "something shiny". She gave people something to talk about. If I could go back and say 'if could I get rid of this bitter rival of mine', I wouldn't do it.
... Trying really not to be again emotionally invested. I'm gonna look at Ronda Rousey as just the champion, and another opponent not someone that I hate.
She's pretty cocky and pretty arrogant at this point. And I think a little slice of humble pie wouldn't hurt her. Women's MMA needs a new face...
And that's basically the jist of the interview. You can also see some obvious playing up of the rivalry by an inverted Joe Rogan, which is strange. I don't recall many of these pre-fight interviews where it wasn't just the fighter talking.
December 28th, Miesha Tate rematches Ronda Rousey for the Women's Bantamweight title.
*Sidenote: If Miesha can win or even pull off a draw or something controversial, it will be huge for Women's MMA, in my opinion. Opens up a possible 3rd fight with Ronda and a Cat Zingano return and rematch. But don't get me wrong WMMA will be just fine with Ronda snatching up another 1st round armbar.
