Comeback fighters of the year.

This year in MMA we have seen many fighters that seemed on their last legs comeback and look like the contenders and champions they once were but few stand out as much as the three men included in this article.

Comeback fighters
1. Urijah Faber (30-6, 6-2 UFC) 2013 Record (4-0) At the end of 2012 Urijah Faber was a mere 2-2 in the UFC and was coming off a loss in a bid for the Interim Bantamweight Championship against Renan Barao, many thought that this was Faber's last chance at securing a piece of UFC gold as he had also lost to the Champ and Rival Dominic Cruz. In 2013 Faber turned back the clock and secured 4 straight victories capped off by a second round submission of #3 ranked Micheal Mcdonald at UFC on Fox 9. Since it has been stated that the "California Kid" will get his rematch with the winner of Cruz- Barao that will go down in early 2014, Look for big things from Faber in 2014.

2. Vitor Belfort (24-10, 13-6 UFC) 2013 Record (3-0) At the end of 2012 Vitor Belfort's third run in the UFC was 3-2 with both loses being to the Light Heavyweight Champion in Jon Jones and a spectacular front kick knockout loss to then Middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva. With these two loses many speculated that Vitor would be a top ten fighter in these divisions but wouldn't be able to make it to another run at the title, but in 2013 Vitor changed all of that speculation. He started off by knocking out perennial middleweight contender Michael Bisping and then beating Former Strikeforce Champ Luke Rockhold and to top things off he finished both of these fights by head kicks with the later being a Spinning back kick. With Vitor looking on to contendership after these two victories he moved up to Light Heavyweight and took on a legend in Dan Henderson and quickly dispatching him by Knockout. Being the first man to stop Henderson by knockout, and having an amazing 2013 Vitor is expected to face the winner of Silva / Weidman for the Middleweight title.

3. Robbie Lawler (22-9(1), 7-3 UFC ) 2013 Record (3-0) Coming into 2013 'Ruthless' Robbie Lawler was 1-3 in his last four fights and was on what looked to be the last legs of his career, but in 2013 he was given one last chance to redeem himself. 'Ruthless' was slated to face top ten welterweight Josh Koscheck. Not many people gave him a fighting chance against his wrestling foe but with his back against the wall Robbie dropped a weight class and gave it his best stopping Koscheck in the first round of their welterweight affair, but he was just getting started. In 2013 Lawler would add 2 more victories, a second round KO of Bobby Voelker and a split decision over third ranked Rory MacDonald, being only the second man to defeat the young contender. With the win Lawler is slated to face Johny Hendricks for the vacant Welterweight Title in early 2014.
