Updated: Bigfoot Silva says 'It wasn't my mistake' regarding failed post-fight drug test

Shortly after the announcement of his failed drug test, Silva responded on Facebook.

As we reported earlier today, Heavyweight Antonio Silva tested positive for elevated testosterone following his fight at UFC Fight Night 33. Despite being allowed to take testosterone replacement therapy, Bigfoot still came in over the legal limit allowed for someone with a therapeutic use exemption.

Shortly after the announcement, Silva responded on his Facebook account:

Clarification: Months before my fight I looked for the UFC doctor Marcio Tannure in Brazil so I could start the hormonal replacement "TRT" which was authorized and recognized by a professional. I started the treatment and 2 weeks before my fight I did all the exams required by the UFC. My testosterone level continued to be low so I was recommended by the doctor to increase the dosage. Unfortunately my level increased too much and caused me to suspend. I only did what was recommended by someone trained who understands about the subject therefore it was not my mistake. I'm cool because I know that the mistake was not made by me,I never tried doing anything wrong for my fight.

For failing the test, Silva has been suspended for nine months by the UFC who acted as the commission for the December 7 event. His $50K Fight of the Night bonus has been awarded to his opponent Mark Hunt (you can check out Hunt's response here). Finally, his result for the fight will be overturned to a no contest, while Hunt will still be given credit for the majority draw.

Updated: Bigfoot published this on his Facebook page shortly after his original post:

Email doctor,my testosterone level before increasing the dosage and translation... O email do Dr. e o nivel de minha testosterona antes do medico aumentar a dosagem.

The translation reads:

Your levels are still low. You can start taking one shot per week. Let's see how that will look on the next test. Contact me if you have questions.
