Faber was able to catch a kick, but couldn't score the takedown. Quick combination landed by McDonald. Faber landed an overhand right before the bell closed the round.

Action stopped for a second after an errant blow from Faber. Urijah landed a big hook that had McDonald shook up. He kept his composure and hit Faber with a right hand of his own to slow the "California Kid". They stayed even on the feet before Faber landed another big punch to drop McDonald. "Mayday" was on wobbly legs and took two more big shots before falling to the mat. He clung to single that gave Faber the opportunity to lock on the fight ending guillotine choke.
