UFC Fight Night 32 post-fight awards: Belfort, Akhmedov, Perpetuo, and Martins win $50,000 bonuses

After a night filled with great fights and an abundance of finishes, the UFC handed out a few post-fight bonuses after UFC Fight Night 32 in Goiania, Brazil.

UFC Fight Night 32 delivered some incredible action from the opening bout of the evening to the decisive main event between Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson. Only 2 out of 11 fights went the distance, and 7 of the 9 finishes came within the opening round. The pickings were plentiful for post-fight bonuses, and the UFC has handed out $50,000 to the following fighters:

  • Knockout of the Night: Vitor Belfort def. Dan Henderson by KO (head kick and punches) at 1:17 of round 1.
  • Submission of the Night: Adriano Martins def. Daron Cruickshank by straight armbar at at 2:49 of round 2.
  • Fight of the Night: Omari Akhmedov def. Thiago Perpetuo by KO (punches) at 3:31 of round 1.
This is Belfort's 3rd straight KO bonus and his 5th overall since returning to the UFC in 2009. His last 3 KO/TKO wins have come via head kick. Martins gets a submission win in his UFC debut, while Cruickshank loses by submission for the first time since a guillotine choke against Bobby Green in 2010. Akhmedov and Perpetuo was an incredible back-and-forth round, and just when it looked like Thiago had Akhmedov in serious trouble, the Dagestan middleweight floored Perpetuo while backing up and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in his UFC debut.

Jeremy Stephens is perhaps a tad unlucky not to win KOTN after his own head kick KO of Rony Jason, but Vitor becoming the first man to KO Dan Henderson definitely garnered more attention both for the finish itself and the significance of the stoppage.
