Prospect to Watch this Weekend

This is not a strong week for prospects... In fact this is probably the weakest group as a whole I've seen in a single weekend since I started doing these post back in May. I'm not perfect, if I've missed a fight that you know of... or someone has pulled out of a fight let me know in the comments section.

Shooto - 9 Nov - Tokyo, Japan

FLW

Ryuichi Miki (14-6-4) vs. Yosuke Saruta (7-3-2)

Age: 30 Age: 26

Height: 5'4 Height: 5'3

Miki, and Saruta rematch this weekend from their first fight that ended in a draw in July. Saruta was on a 5 fight winning streak heading into the first fight, and Miki was on a 4 fight streak of his own. With UFC adding numerous Japanese fighters over the last month, the winner would establish themselves in the mix for consideration.

No Contest - 9 Nov - Kwidzny, Poland

MW

Oskar Piechota (3-0) vs. Rafal Haratyk (3-1-1)

Age: 23

Height: 6'0

Poland's PIechota is a Brown Belt under Robert Drysdale, but spends most his time training in Poland. He was recently competed in the ADCC competition in Bejing where he won his first round match in the -88kg bracket before falling to Keenan Cornelius. With UFC looking towards Poland in 2014, Piechota is likely on their radar as a young talent they can build into a local star. Haratyk's only loss came to recent UFC signee Omari Akhmedov.

Pacific Xtreme Combat - 9 Nov - Manila, Philippines

FLW

Ale Cali (5-1) vs. Louis Smolka (4-1)

Age: Age: 22

Height: 5'5 Height: 5'9

Cali lost his pro debut but has since reeled off 5 straight wins. He likes to strike, but as seen in his last fight he starts a little show boating when he is in control, and feeling comfortable. Smolka also lost his pro debut, but has since stopped his next four opponents. Louis's game is based on the ground, and he is looking for the takedown, but is aggressive and dangerous from the bottom as well. This fight will be an interesting contrast in styles, and come down to who can dictate where the fight takes place.

Review from last week:

Bitetti Combat - 31 Oct - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

LHW

Luis Philipe "Monstro" (7-0) picked up his 2nd win since September with a 2nd round TKO over Armando Sixel (7-3). Philipe was scheduled to fight for Bellator back in 2012 but it fell through, if they still have him under contract, it would be a good time to bring him in.

King of the Cage - 31 October - Highland, CA

HW

Cody East (7-1) vs. Wes Combs (20-6) was cancelled.

FW

Henry Corrales (7-0) picked up a spilt decision over Jerod Spoon (6-4-1)

Cage Fury Fighting Championships - 1 Nov - King of Prussia, PA

LW

Bekzod Abdurakhmonz (4-0) picked up another stoppage win, with a 3rd round submission of Christian Leonard (5-4)

Cage Fury FC - 2 Nov - King of Prussia, PA

BW

Aljamain Sterling (8-0) picked up a 1st round submission over Joel Roberts (8-5). Sterling has been doing a little twitter campaigning to fill Vaughn Lee's slot on UFC 167 against Sergio Pettis. I think he will be in the UFC soon, but that might not be the spot.

Jungle Fights - 2 Nov - Sao Paulo, Brazil

FW

Douglas da silva Andrade (21-1) has now won 20 in a row with a TKO win over Fabiano Nogueira (6-3)
