In the co-main event of UFC Fight for the Troops 3, Alexis Davis showed some great standup with heavy kicks telling the story of her unanimous decision win over Liz Carmouche. Davis battered Carmouche's right leg with inside leg kicks to the point that Carmouche had to change stances or lift the leg to defend herself. Carmouche did connect with one big punch in the fight, but it wasn't enough. Davis took the fight with scores of 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28.
The pace was pretty measured early in the first round, with each lady only connecting with the odd kick and punch. Carmouche probably landed the harder kicks though. Davis kept hitting the same spot though, which seemed to hurt Carmouche slightly. Davis scored with a nice three-punch combination and a right hook.
Carmouche got off to a good start in round two with some outside leg kicks and a right hook. Davis continued to batter Carmouche's leg but Liz responded with a big punch that opened up a cut over Davis' eye. Davis didn't let the blood bother her though, smiling as she continued to kick Carmouche's right leg and scoring with rights. Davis hit a nice trip and moved to side control as Liz clipped her with an upkick. Carmouche reversed right at the bell.
Davis chopped Carmouche down with a leg kick right away in round three, but Carmouche got up quickly enough to clinch up. They exchanged knees for a while before the ref separated them. Davis continued to attack the leg while Carmouche loaded up single shots. After some more clinch work, Carmouche had a takedown attempt stuffed. Davis connected with another inside leg kick and a straight right. Davis pressed forward and emphasized her strong performance until the horn.
