UFC Fight for the Troops 3 results: Michael Chiesa submits Colton Smith

Joshua Lindsey-USA TODAY Sports

In the opening main card bout at UFC Fight for the Troops 3, Michael Chiesa submitted Colton Smith in the second round.

The latest chapter in the battle between TUF winners ended with a second round tapout. The man tapping was Colton Smith, the victim of a Michael Chiesa rear naked choke. After an excellent first round where both men came close to finishing the fight, Chiesa hit a nice throw and quickly locked up the choke to get the win. The finish came at 1:41 of the second stanza.

They started off with some kicks early before Smith got Chiesa's back and suplexed him to the ground. Chiesa quickly swept though with full back mount and a body triangle. He tried to sink a choke but Smith fought him off and got to his feet, quickly getting back control and looking to sink his own choke. Smith had his arm under the neck but Chiesa slammed his way out.

After some battling on the feet to start the second round, Chiesa hit a throw and immediately got Smith's back. Smith seemed dazed from landing on his head, and Chiesa immediately sunk a choke. Smith had no choice but to tap.

The win moved Chiesa's UFC record to 3-1 overall, while Smith dropped his second bout in a row.
