Igor Araujo and Yan Cabral ground out decision wins and Chris Cariaso and Allan Patrick got TKO wins in the preliminary bouts on the UFC Fight Night 29 card.

The UFC Fight Night 29 prelims saw good early action with a couple of TKO's followed by two fairly slow grappling fests that went to decision.

In the final prelim fight of the evening Igor Araujo dominated Illdemar Alcantara. In the second, Alcantara attempted a slick standing ninja choke but Igor Araujo escaped and ended the scramble on top on the ground. In the third, Araujo threatened with a very tight omaplata and then a gogoplata but couldn't get the finish with either.

UFC debutant Yan Cabral dominated round one with strong grappling and then dropped David Mitchell with a huge right hand early in the second round. Mitchell defended gamely and attempted a kimura in the second and a triangle in the third but it was too little too late and Cabral cruised to a unanimous decision win.

The second fight of the night saw enormous Flyweight Illiarde Santos come out and dominate the first round with a pressuring attack and strikes that raised a bruise on Chris Cariaso's cheek. But the second round was all Cariaso as he figured out Santos' timing, moved away from his power and repeatedly hurt him with punches. Ref. Keith Peterson stepped in to stop the fight as a staggered Santos was backed up against the cage but before he fell.

In the opener, capoeira stylist Allan Patrick caught Brit Garret Whitely coming in with a hook that dropped him and followed up with some quick ground and pound before Referee Marc Goddard called a stop to the action. Patrick showed a pretty distinctive striking approach with a lot of spinning strikes and unusual footwork. The fight was pretty even until the big hook ended things quickly.
