World Series of Fighting issued a press release today stating that they have purchased a large Canadian MMA promotion, Aggression Fighting Championships, and will be bringing a WSOF event to Canada in December. WSOF 7 will take place in the Agrodome in Vancouver, BC on December 7th, and will feature a light heavyweight headliner that sees Anthony Johnson taking on Mike Kyle. Here's a snippet of the release:
"The launch of World Series of Fighting Canada is an incredibly exciting announcement for our promotion," World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo said. "From the beginning, we have maintained our desire to bring our elite-level mixed martial arts action to Canada and the great MMA fans that live there, as well as markets around the globe. We embrace this new division of our company that will allow us to make great strides into Canada, which has long proven to have one of the most passionate and knowledgeable MMA fan bases in the world."
The co-main event will see Elvis Mutapcic take on Jesse Taylor in the semi-finals of WSOF's four-man middleweight tournament. The two men were set to fight at WSOF 5, but the bout was scrapped at the last minute by the New Jersey commission.
