Following the Facebook prelims, the televised portion of UFC Fight Night 30 started up on FS2. The co-main event of the show out of Manchester, England featured a lot of action with fights like Lineker vs. Harris and Sakara vs. Musoke, and odd conclusions like with Jimmo vs. Manuwa and Pearson vs. Guillard.
The two Lightweights knew what the crowd wanted in the co-main and they tried to deliver. Guillard sat back just out of reach looking to counter as Pearson tried to jab his way in. Pearson ate a few big strikes from Guillard but looked unfazed. Wtih Guillard's back against the fence, Pearson jumped in with a flying knee. He was caught by Melvin and tossed. As Pearson went to stand, Guillard landed a pair of knees. The legality was questionable after the first knee, but the second was clearly a foul and referee Mark Goddard stopped the fight.
After 1:57 in round 1, the fight between Ross Pearson and Melvin Guillard was declared a no contest.
Throughout this Light Heavyweight tilt, Manuwa and Jimmo looked pretty evenly matched. It was a pretty slow and not especially exciting fight as they traded a few strikes between clinch against the fence. Looked like it would be more of the same in the second as Jimmo hit a couple jabs before entering the clinch. He ate a low blow, but was able to continue. The finishing sequence happened when Manuwa hit Jimmo with a knee. Jimmo looked good and took a couple bounces to show he'd recovered, but then collapsed due to an apparent knee injury.
In a battle of Lightweight TUF veterans, Parke out worked Tuck throughout. Tuck kept the fight close through the first round, but his best shot was a punch to the eye that had Parke backing up. After that, Parke took over. Tuck was visibly slowed starting the second round and his single shot strikes couldn't back off Parke's combinations.
Musoke came in as a late replacement to fight Sakara at Middleweight. Despite being at a disadvantage as the late replacement, Musoke didn't back down for a second. He stood toe-to-toe trading punches with Sakara with each man eating damaging punches. Musoke went for a takedown and landed in guard. He didn't get much done there before Sakara reversed and started landing powerful ground and pound. Musoke stayed composed, however, and snatched Sakara's arm to lock on the fight-ending armbar.
The Flyweights met in the opening bout of the FS2 main card. Harris tried to stand early, but Lineker was far too much for him to handle. Lineker dropped him with a right hand that sent him reeling into the cage. Harris managed to get back up, but it was just a matter of time. Lineker hit him with a brutal combination and a shot to the body that buckled Harris. A few more shots was all he needed to end the fight.
