UFC 166 medical suspensions: Junior dos Santos and two others suspended indefinitely

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Spor

Junior dos Santos, Shawn Jordan and Tim Boetsch given indefinite suspensions. UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez could be out until April.

Every fighter that competed on the October 19 UFC 166 fight card received at least one week off when the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation handed out medical suspensions for the event. UFC 166 took place at Houston's Toyota Center.

Unsurprisingly, Junior dos Santos, who admitted that he could not recall rounds three through five of his fight with UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, earned an indefinite suspension. Velasquez left Dos Santos' face a swollen and discolored mess in the process of defending his title. However, Velasquez did not leave Houston unscathed, Velasquez was handed a lengthy suspension due to a possible broken jaw.

Tim Boetsch is out indefinitely after being poked in the eye twice during his fight with C.B. Dollaway. Boetsch won the fight by split decision. Dollaway did have a point deducted for the eye pokes. The point deduction did not affect the scoring of the fight. Two of the three judges gave the nod to Boetsch 30-26; the other judge saw it 29-27 for Dollaway.

T.J. Waldburger left the Octagon on a Saturday night on a stretcher after being knocked out by Adlan Amagov, and he will be suspended until January. Waldburger was transported to a local hospital after the loss, and given a CT scan. The CT scan came back clear, and Waldburger was released from the hospital the same night.

Diego Sanchez was badly cut during his loss to Gilbert Melendez. Sanchez's suspension will run until January to allow his wounds to fully heal. Melendez will have to sit until November following the scrap, which will surely get a great deal of consideration for Fight of the Year.
