Only 4 bouts, but got video for all of it, and some Japanese action.
Stephanie Eggink def. Angela Magana by submssion (triangle) round 2 to win the 115 title
Not much went on this fight. 1st round Magana found quite a bit of success on the feet, mixing in kicks and punches. Eggink said in the post-fight interview her plan was to not do much in the 1st though. Magana decides to take it down in the 2nd, doing nothing once she gets it there, and rightfully was triangle choked.
I have Eggink as the #16 Strawweight after this fight.
Legacy Fighting Championship 23
Tessa Simpson def. Paulina Granados via Unanimous Decision
Damn, it feels good to be sort of right just by looking at a Sherdog record. In my preview for this fight I said, "Pretty sure, Granados (decent fighter and good looks), is the selling point for Legacy, but I’m more interested in seeing Simpson. She was 2-0 before losing to a much larger fighter and after 4 years makes her return at atomweight."
And did Simpson impress. Fast right hands in the clinch the way Sonnen did against Jones. Attacking from the bottom with some nice armbar set ups, a sweep into basically mount and showed a nice single leg takedown. She was also active with her ground and pound, almost got an Americana submission, but Granados defend correctly. Lastly, and I’m not just saying this, cause I cover women, but I always learn new shit from them. I’ve never seen someone do the "disrupt the breathing cover the mouth" thing when on someone’s back AND in the clinch the way Simpson did.
Looking forward to seeing Simpson again and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have to rank her very soon.
Karoline Kowalkiewicz def. #3 atomweight Simona Soukapova via decision
Kowalkiewicz is looking like a great prospect. She’s one of 3 Polish girls that just keeps winning. She has the most important thing, grappling, and has solid, effective ground and pound. She struck the body from back control, something I’ve always wanted fighters to do. Offensively her striking looks alright, but she has zero defensive head movement, and not much past a 1-2 or 2-1 combination.
I would have to think Soukapova’s stock only goes up from this fight. Moving up from 105lbs to 115lbs on short notice in KK’s native Poland. She ate punch after punch. It was clear she didn’t have the strength advantage she has at atomweight. Hopefully, Invicta sets her up with another atomweight fight.
I talk about this fight and it’s "controversy" at length here.

Cris Cyborg Santos does what she does best.
Check out her Muay Thai fight from Friday night against a 10-0 Muay Thai Champion.
I still believe Cyborg is must see, but her fights aren’t even exciting these days. From start to finish she destroys her opponents, and I see the fear in her opponents’ eyes. Even when Carano fought Cyborg and got some dominant positions, she was scared shitless. Watching Cyborg fight another women is the closest thing we’ll get to man vs. woman (I am indeed aware of Fallon Fox, and she don’t bring this level of brutality). And honestly, Cyborg is more terrifying than most men.
With that said, Cyborg has improved a lot. Before she had a Wanderlei all hooks style, but she mixes up the jab, kicks and ruthless punches to the bodies as you can see. Watching Cyborg fight girls is like watching Jones (Cyborg) vs. Shogun (random girl) each time. I can’t recall any time Cyborg put someone to sleep.
