So I have been putting off writing another fan post for a while now, as I am pretty sure most people here got tired of hearing me talk about how awesome I am with no results. So here I have a lot of updates on my life and how MMA is involved in it now. In June I started my current job as the Program Director/General Manager at Stout Training Pittsburgh/Team Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & MMA. If anyone in Eastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia or Western Pennsylvania has an interest in jiu jitsu or mma you should check out our website at www.stouttrainpitt.com. We have added a bunch of awesome programs this year, including a Russian Kettlebell Conditioning Program and Muay Thai kickboxing under David Reese. This is in addition to our awesome jiu jitsu program started under Warren Stout, who is a Renzo Gracie black belt and trained under Rolles Gracie, Shawn Williams, and Renzo Gracie. So take a look at our website and come for a visit during one of our classes.
Honestly this job is a dream come true. If you told me a year ago that this is what I would be getting paid to do, I would not have believed you. When I started training in 2012, it was because I missed the one on one competition of wrestling and I thought that MMA would be easy. I was wrong. MMA is so much harder than it looks, (at least if you want to make a serious run at it), and I am so blessed. To have the opportunity to train under one of the most talented of Renzo Gracie's black belts (Warren Stout) and to work in such a positive environment where I have the ability to both support myself and pursue my dream fulltime is amazing.
Anyway, I am now a four stripe white belt, I have done a few jiu jitsu tournaments and done well in them, and am fighting in my first muay thai smoker next Saturday. This is all in preparation for my amateur MMA debut on December 7th at 145 lbs versus Jake Magill for Gladiators of the Cage at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA. The fight will also be rebroadcast on ROOT sports in Western Pennsylvania, and TUFFTV online. I really don't know much about my opponent other than he is 0-2 with both fights occurring over the last 18 months. Regardless, I am training for this fight as if I was fighting Jose Aldo. I am training 1-2 times a day, sparring 3-4 times a week, and in the best shape of my life right now. I really want to put on a show and impress everyone who sees my fight with how hard I have been working.
Now onto the fun part, if anyone reading this has any ties or connections to any business or businesses who would be interested in sponsoring me, you can contact me at my email address on my profile, my facebook fan page (also on my profile) or my twitter account. I really want to prove my worth to sponsors and am not just looking to be a walking, punching, kicking, submission hunting billboard but rather a spokesman. I obviously love to talk, and want to represent any brands who sponsor me with the same passion and drive I put into my young career as a Program Director as well as my training. I really feel that a fighter's job goes way beyond fighting and I want to represent as much through my own words and actions. Honestly for my first fight if someone could get me a pair of vale tudo shorts and an opportunity to speak on behalf of their brand that would be great. I understand that I am a very unknown commodity but I know for certain that I am destined to do great things.
If anyone has any questions contact me here in the comments, on my facebook fan page, or twitter. Thanks for supporting me. Lets Cerebral Ballsy Mutherfukers
