A lot of buzz and hype came into this fight (which is one of the reasons I hate the Ultimate Fighter, I like going into fights not knowing anything). There was the Gutierrez kid saying this was the female version of Griffin/Bonnar 1.

I liked his enthusiasm post-fight, but he doesn’t seem too knowledgeable if this is the best female fight he’s ever watched. Off the top of my head, Kaitlin Young vs. Gina Carano/Leslie Smith 1, Miesha vs. Ronda/Julie Kedzie and Jessica Penne/Lisa Ellis were all better than this. Two of the biggest UFC female fights, Ronda/Carmouche and Miesha/Cat, I’d say was better than this as well. But, on to the fight...
I was surprised every judge gave the round to Duke, when I was thinking to myself "I’m scoring it 10-10, but could understand a judge giving it to Pennington." Then the 2nd round and Pennington really starts to tag Duke, and I’m like "there’s so much time left in this episode, how is this going to a 3rd round" and was waiting for one of those Duke knees to drop Pennington, but nothing.
Tied going into the third, and they both go after it. Duke’s best round offensively, and honestly with that length she was getting hit way too much. I think she landed, 3 jabs, the whole fight. I think that were going to see that Duke ground game is better than her striking, but she prefers to stand.
