First it was supposed to be Tom Watson, who went down with an undisclosed injury, then Magnus Cedenblad, who bowed out with an also undisclosed injury, but now, finally Alessio Sakara appears to have an opponent. UFC officials announced via Twitter that Sakara will be meeting promotional newcomer Nicholas Musoke. Sakara is coming off a DQ loss to Patrick Cote and several months spent battling kidney ailments. This will be his first fight since November of last year.
"Nico," as he is more commonly known, is a training partner of Cedenblad (as well as the recently released Papy Abedi and Reza Madadi). At 27 years old and 6' 1" he's got all the right numbers for a prospect. His record is a bit underwhelming at 10-2-1 (1 NC), but his only losses are to well regarded fighters Cathal Pendred and Danny Mitchell by decision and armbar respectively. He's got a nice spread of finishes with 4 TKO/KOs, 4 subs, and two decisions. He's definitely a very powerful fighter, which may be as much a blessing as a curse. He tends to strike his way into the clinch and look to control opponents there. He strikes well and aggressively from top control, but I don't know how well developed his all-around game is. He's been fighting as a welterweight for most of his career now so I think he really has a tall task in taking on a bigger fighter with a lot more experience and what should be a big advantage in striking.
