UFC 158 is loaded with welterweights, and the addition of Sean Pierson vs. Rick Story to the card makes it 6 fights from the 170 lbs division.
March 16th in Montreal is the day for fans of the welterweight division to savor. UFC 158 has another 170 lbs fight scheduled, and MMA Weekly has the details:
UFC officials have been hard at work on the fight cards for the first quarter of 2013, the latest addition being a welterweight bout between Sean Pierson and Rick Story on the fight card already chalk full of 170-pounders.
Pierson is a Toronto native with 5 fights in the UFC. He defeated Matt Riddle at UFC 124 in Montreal, but was dominated by Jake Ellenberger and Dong Hyun Kim in his next two bouts. He's since rebounded nicely with wins over Jake Hecht and Lance Benoist.
Story was previously one of the most promising welterweight contenders in the UFC division. In fact, he remains the only man to defeat Johny Hendricks. Unfortunately for him, an upset loss to Charlie Brenneman in June 2011 started a significant drop from the contender ranks. His 3rd loss in 4 and first stoppage loss came in October 2012, as Demian Maia literally squeezed the blood out of Story en route to a first round submission.
UFC 158 has 6 welterweight fights out of 9 booked, and the biggest one is the main event between Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz.
