UFC on Fox 7: Henderson vs. Melendez card shaping up

USA TODAY Sports

The UFC will be returning to the old Strikeforce stomping grounds, the HP Pavilion in San Jose, when they present UFC on Fox 7 on April 20th. And unsurprisingly, a few Strikeforce guys have already been booked for the event. The main event will be a champion vs. champion bout with UFC lightweight title holder Ben Henderson putting his belt on the line against the Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez. The co-main event will see the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier making his UFC debut against former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir.

The other two bouts announced for the card (both of which will probably make up the rest of the main card) are pretty great as well. Former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz will face off with former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson, who will be making his first UFC appearance in over eight years. Finally, 2012 Bloody Elbow fighter of the year (?) Matt Brown will meet Dan Hardy.

April 20th, live on Fox from San Jose, CA:

Ben Henderson vs. Gilbert Melendez [LW Title]
Daniel Cormier vs. Frank Mir
Nate Diaz vs. Josh Thomson
Matt Brown vs. Dan Hardy
