Patricky Pitbull is out of tomorrow night's Bellator show and the entire season 8 Lightweight tournament with a knee injury. Get the full news and what it means for the card here.

Patricky Pitbull is out of this week's Bellator show. Patricky Freire has been pulled from the event due to a knee injury suffered in training. Here's Pitbull's update, via twitter:

As it's now been announced, I'm out of this week's @BellatorMMA card. I suffered a knee injury at the end of my last sparring session.

Pitbull was set to main event the show against Guillaume DeLorenzi in a Lightweight tournament quarterfinal. With this injury, Pitbull is both out of the event, and out of the tournament. DeLorenzi will now face former TUF contestant Saad Awad, who was originally scheduled in a prelim fight, while David Rickels vs. Lloyd Woodard will be bumped up to the main event slot.

This is a tough break for Pitbull and for Bellator. The 10-4 Patricky had to be considered one of the tournament favorites. He was a finalist in the season 4 Lightweight tournament, losing to Michael Chandler. He's currently on a 2 fight losing streak, with loses to fellow season 8 tournament participant Lloyd Woodard and Eddie Alvarez.

The Bellator Lightweight tournament kicks off Thursday night, January 31, live on Spike TV. Join us here at Bloody Elbow for all your Bellator coverage.
