In his supposed final UFC fight, Rampage couldn't overcome the odds against rising star. Over the 3 round fight, Glover outworked Rampage to get the nod from the judges.
Light Heavyweight Glover Teixeira made big impressions with his first two UFC victories. He dominated both KYle Kingsbury and Fabio Maldonado. But in his third fight he got a big step up in competition with former champ Quinton Jackson. Jackson had been struggling in his last two bouts with losses to Jon Jones and Ryan Bader. He also claimed that this would be his last fight for the promotion.
Glover came out with an impressive first round. He narrowly missed many of Rampage's counter punches, but managed to land many damaging blows of his own. he also put a big scare on Jackson with an early takedown that led to mount, back control and submission attempts. Another takedown from Glover to start round 2. Rampage survived the attack on the mat. Later in the round, Rampage started to find a rhythm, but still ate a lot of shots from Glover. Both fighters looked extremely slow in the third round. Glover got a couple takedowns but didn't seriously threaten a finish on any of them . Rampage didn't have much left to mount any reasonable offense but managed to survive the round.
