Guida made a successful Featherweight debut with a split decision over the former #2 145 lber.

UFC veteran Clay Guida has been a mainstay of the Lightweight division for years. But tonight at UFC On Fox 6 he made his Featherweight debut after dropping his last two fights. He faced off against top 10 FW talent Hatsu Hioki. Hioki was ranked number 2 in the division before dropping a unanimous decision to Ricardo Lamas.

The first round almost entirely belonged to Hatsu Hioki. He wasn't frustrated by Guida's awkward movement and landed consistently throughout. Even when Guida got the takedown, Hioki immediately put Clay on the defensive with submission attempts. Guida opened up with a big slam on Hioki. He didn't do much with, however and spent the next 3 minutes defending before being stood up by the ref. Hioki landed a head kick to end the round. Third round almost an exact replica of the second. Early takedown from Guida followed by minimal offense. Hioki attacked with submission and sweep attempts but couldn't complete, although he landed the more effective strikes. Clay Guida def. Hatsu Hioki via split decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29).
