Former UFC Heavyweight champion Josh Barnett is the most high-profile "ronin" coming out of Strikeforce. He was not one of the 20-something fighters that was announced as heading to the UFC from the now defunct organization and many speculated that his high asking price (he made $250,000 for his final SF bout) and his infamous troubles with performance enhancing drugs and getting along with Zuffa made him an unlikely candidate for a return to the UFC.
That may have been premature.
MMA Mania's Mike Bohn spoke to White at today's media scrum and Dana said, "I have not (spoken with Barnett). It's probably going to happen."
Exciting news for fans of the baby-faced assassin who has not fought in the UFC since defeating Randy Couture back in 2002. Barnett never fought for a title in his Pride tenure but he was consistently near the top of the division and he finished second in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix in 2012.
