This Thursday, Michael Chandler defends his Bellator Lightweight title against Rick Hawn, live on Spike TV. What better way to get ready than to watch Chandler's epic 2011 title win over Eddie Alvarez?
Thursday night, Bellator Lightweight champion Michael Chandler headlines the first ever Bellator event live on Spike TV. He will be making the first defense of the belt he won in 2011 when he takes on season 6 tournament winner Rick Hawn. It's a good fight, well chosen to headline the Spike debut, as the two men match up nicely. But just in case you need any convincing that this is a fight to watch, I present to you exhibit A:
Michael Chandler vs. Eddie Alvarez
Chandler's title victory over Alvarez is hands down the best fight in Bellator history. In fact, it was one of the best fights of 2011, period. That's an impressive accomplishment when you are looking at a year that included Dan Henderson vs. Shogun Rua, Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard, and lots of other high quality fights. But in their Bellator 58 world title clash, Chandler and Alvarez absolutely went to war, producing a fight for the ages.

Thursday night, it will be unfair to expect another Chandler vs. Alvarez level classic out of Chandler and Hawn. But this fight should serve as a reminder that Michael Chandler is a fighter to watch. Let's see what he can do on Thursday.
