The news leaked a few days ago, but it's now official - Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir will take place in the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, OK on November 3rd. As usual, the card will air on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The announcement confirmed just two fights for the card, but they're both big ones.
The main event sees Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champion Daniel Cormier (10-0) taking on former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir ( 16-6). Mir came over from the UFC for this one-time event, as both men will be moving back to the big organization after the bout. This is only the third time Mir has competed outside the UFC in what will be his 23rd pro fight.
The co-main event sees Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold (10-1) defending his title against Lorenz Larkin (12-0, 1 NC). Rockhold has successfully defended his title twice since picking it up last year, while Larkin is coming off a successful middleweight debut where he defeated Robbie Lawler by unanimous decision.
More bouts are expected to be announced soon.
