UFC President Dana White was emphatic and angry after UFC 152 that fans who booed the Flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez are "morons" and that he doesn't want their business. In the above video, I respectfully disagree.

Bullet point outline of my argument after the jump...
Here are my points:
- Whether or not anyone who is a "real fight fan" appreciated Johnson vs. Benavidez, there are a lot of very real customers who don't want to shell out their hard-earned money to see Flyweight fights. Telling them they're "morons" and that the UFC doesn't want their money is a terrible business and PR strategy.
- The evidence of ticket sales (as reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer) shows that had the Light Heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Vitor Belfort not been added to the card, UFC 152 was headed for an even bigger flop at the gate than it was with Jones vs. Belfort.
- There are plenty of "real fight fans" who don't appreciate Demetrious Johnson's point-fighting approach to MMA. Johnson did nothing in the fight that threatened to finish Benavidez, not one time, not ever. That's not fighting, that's point scoring and it's not what some of us come to MMA for.
