UFC 152 results: Jon Jones is right, he does need to work on his jiu jitsu

After nearly getting arm barred by Vitor Belfort at UFC 152, LHW champ Jon Jones spoke to the press about his need to improve his jiu-jitsu skills.

After nearly getting submitted by a Vitor Belfort arm bar in the first round of his UFC Light Heavyweight championship fight on Saturday in Toronto, champion Jon Jones admitted he has not been working on his Jiu-Jitsu as hard as he should.

Here's what Jones had to say after the fight via MMA Fighting:

"I would rate the performance, I think it was a good performance, but there was definitely a lot of room to improve," said Jones, wearing a sling on his right arm at the post-fight press conference. "Vitor had me second-guessing myself. I've just got to get more comfortable in the Octagon. I work so hard on my wrestling and so hard on my standup. I definitely need to embrace jiu-jitsu more and practice what I preach, being a true mixed martial artist and embracing all martial arts. I have to admit I don't practice my jiu-jitsu every day."

It's good to see that Jones can recognize the glaring flaw in his game. He might have been right to fear a bout with Chael Sonnen. Something tells me that if Jones' top game defense is weak enough for Vitor Belfort -- hardly the "arm collector" or a wizard of offensive submissions -- to nearly break his arm, then it's a safe bet that Jones' Jiu-Jitsu skills off his back are even more limited.
