Cub Swanson is earning quite the reputation as a knockout artist. After being taken down once, Swanson started landing damaging body shots on opponent Charles Oliveira and followed it up with a winging right that put Oliveira down in their UFC 152 featherweight bout. The way Oliveira went down was almost comical - he took the shot, stumbled back a step, then his legs just went out from underneath him. The finish came at 2:40 of the first round.
Swanson was getting the better of the striking very early, but Oliveira scooped him up for a takedown. Oliveira landed a couple of elbows, but Cub got up. Swanson was throwing winging punches, but nothing really landed at first. Swanson started digging to the body, then landed a huge right that wobbled Oliveira. He then just fell over like a tree, and the bout was over.
Swanson was coming off a huge knockout win over current TUF coach Ross Pearson at UFC on FX 4, while Oliveira was coming off a submission win over Jonathan Brookins.
