It seemed like Simeon Thoresen was using his reach advantage well and was in control of his UFC 152 welterweight bout with Seth Baczynski. One punch changed all that. After a brief stoppage for an eyepoke, Thoresen decided to exchange a bit and paid for it. Baczynski landed a thundering left hook that floored the Norwegian fighter and ended the fight. The finish came at 4:10 of the first round.
The fighters felt each other out with jabs and pawing strikes early. Thoresen briefly looked to clinch about two minutes in, but Baczynski backed away. Baczynski ended up with a cut on his upper lip and Thoresen landed more strikes to the spot. Thoresen landed a few nice leg kicks and some decent rights. Baczynski stuck a finger in Thoresen's eye, and the bout was halted for 30 seconds or so while Thoresen recovered.
After a brief flurry when the fight continued, Baczynski landed a big left hook to the jaw that sent Thoresen slumping to the mat face first. Referee John McCarthy stopped the bout before Baczynski landed anything else.
