Kimbo Slice vs. Roy Jones Jr. Yes, you read that right. The former UFC heavyweight and streeting fighting aficionado is reportedly set to face off with the boxing legend in an exhibition boxing match in December in Jamaica. The Jamaica Observer has the story:

With local boxing slowly regaining its vibrancy, Giomax Entertainment company and Stewart's Auto Sales have combined in an effort to take the sport to another level with an exciting exhibition bout featuring the enigmatic veteran boxing star Roy 'Superman' Jones and streetfighter turned professional boxer, Kimbo 'The Streetfighter' Slice.

The fight, labelled 'Beauty and the Beast', will take place in Montego Bay in December, it was announced at a launch at the Spanish Court Hotel on Thursday evening.

Scott Christ over at Bad Left Hook is skeptical about the fight actually happening, as am I:

Keep in mind that stories like this one come along a few times a year. Some dopey businessmen are always said to be staging Holyfield-Tyson III in Abu Dhabi or whatever, and it doesn't happen. This will hopefully just become one of those "someone actually is talking about it, but let's be serious, it won't happen" things.

The 38-year-old Slice switched to boxing switched to boxing two years ago after being released by the UFC, and has gone 5-0 with four knockouts against lower-level competition so far. His last opponent, Brian Green, had to wear ankle weights to make the low end of the heavyweight limit for his bout with Slice, as our own Brent Brookhouse reported.

Jones Jr, who is now 43, is 56-8 in a hall-of-fame career that should have probably ended a few years ago. Roy last fought in June, taking a disputed split-decision win over previously undefeated Polish fighter (and last-minute replacement) Pawel Glazewski. He had been rumored to be facing off with Anderson Silva in a boxing match a few years ago, but that bout never materialized.

This one probably won't either, but it should get some people talking at least.
