We all know people like Demian Maia, Ronaldo Souza and Roger Gracie are BJJ phenoms/gods/emperors of limb tangling madness, but if you actually look at their records in high level MMA matches, they don't actually have that many submission victories. Now, I don't place the blame solely on them, since Roger has been rushed into the only high level match he had against Mo, Demian infamously became a K1 striker according to some, and Jacare has turned into quite a decent all rounded fighter in his own right, but all of these men are highly skilled on the ground and if the fight goes there, most fighters stay completely on the defensive, making it very hard to submit them. This aside, my question is,
Which fighter has the most chance of submitting his opponent when he gets into the cage ?
Like I said, we all know Demian Maia could submit anyone in the division, but would he submit any of the higher level of the division in an MMA fight ? Probably not, because he'd either fail to get it there or they'd survive until the end of the round. But which fighter can go in there, against any opponent, no matter how apparently submission resistant they are, and pull off a sub ?
Nate Diaz subbing a very good grappler in Jim Miller impressed me and made me think of him, Jon Jones getting chokes on Rampage who has good submission defence, all kinds of fighters who may not have the best Jiu Jitsu in terms of straight grappling, but have very good submissions in terms of MMA. Who do you think ?
