The UFC is heading for the beach in Australia on December 15th. Not literally or anything, they're not going to be fighting in the sand. But UFC on FX 6 is set to take place in the Gold Coast Convention and Entertainment Centre in Broadbeach, a suburb of Gold Coast, a resort city in Queensland. The 6000-seat arena is about 40 miles from Brisbane. It's the first time the UFC has ventured away from Sydney to do an event.
The promotion of the show has been a bit confusing so far. The billed main event by the UFC is a middleweight battle between Hector Lombard and Rousimar Palhares. But the show is being promoted in Australia with George Sotiropoulos vs. Ross Pearson, the respective coaches of The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. UK, as the headliner.
The only other bout announced for the card thus far sees Krzysztof Soszynski coming out of retirement to Brazilian Ednaldo Oliveira in the latter's light heavyweight debut.
Due to the time difference, the show will air in North America in primetime on the 14th on FX. The very next night will see The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale taking place on FX as well, headlined by a heavyweight battle between Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson.
