Video: Sergio Martinez Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Highlights

Stay connected for news and updates

If you missed last night's middleweight championship boxing match between Sergio Martinez and Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr you missed a remarkable fight. For 11 rounds Martinez utterly dominated JCC Jr. but in the 12th Chavez knocked Martinez down and nearly stole the fight.

All three the judges thought Martinez' dominance of 11/12 of the fight was enough to give him the win and awarded him the unanimous decision: 117-110, 118-109, and 118-109. There is already a great deal of clamoring for a rematch of this instant classic and Jerry Jones' Cowboys Stadium is being put forward as a possible venue.

If you missed it, check out Bloody Elbow's round-by-round coverage from last night.

After the jump we've got Tim Burke's recap of the 12th round.

Round 12: Martinez goes back to the straight single punches while circling and finds success once again. Chavez landed a huge right on an off-balance Martinez, but he takes it and they both throw down and Chavez knocks Sergio down with three rights! Sergio's up at 7, and Chavez attacks! Martinez slips. Chavez attacks some more and lands some big shots, but Martinez perseveres and lands his owns shots without clinching at all. Martinez survives to the final bell! WOW! 10-8 Chavez, but Martinez wins the fight.
