Betting lines in MMA usually come out in one of two ways - either the morning after a big fight announcement, or a few from different cards will all drop at once when a linemaker gets around to it. Yesterday was the latter, with four lines on future fights being opened for betting. In terms of name value, the biggest is probably the UFC 155 bout between Chris Weidman and Tim Boetch. Unsurprisingly, Weidman is a big favorite (via BestFightOdds):
Boetsch was over +300 for his last two fights as well, against Yushin Okami and Hector Lombard, and he managed to win both of those. I wouldn't say it's a good bet or anything, but stranger things have happened. Speaking of Lombard, he's the betting favorite over Rousimar Palhares for their UFC on FX 6 bout in Australia:
The only other bout announced for UFC on FX 6 pits TUF: The Smashes coaches against each other - George Sotiropoulos and Ross Pearson. The line is quite close for this one, with the Australian tagged as a slight favorite:
Finally, we move over to Strikeforce. Luke Rockhold was widely expected to be defending his title against Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, but Sean Shelby and Scott Coker tried to change it up a bit and gave Lorenz Larkin the shot at Rockhold instead. As expected, the champ is a heavy favorite going in:
Of the four bouts, Palhares and Sotiropoulos seem like the best bets to me. But I just dropped a sizeble portion of my bankroll on Sergio Martinez at -200 for tonight's bout with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, so who knows if my betting advice is worth anything or not. I guess we'll find out tonight.
