Anderson Silva Vs. Stephan Bonnar At 205 To Headline UFC 153, Maldonado vs. Teixeira To Co-Main Event

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva offered to fill in at the last minute at UFC 151, but it was too late. This time, he got the call. Silva will meet Ultimate Fighter 1 Finalist Stephan Bonnar in the main event of UFC 153 at light heavyweight. MMA Junkie/USA Today have the news:

USA TODAY Sports has confirmed with company officials that UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (32-4, 15-0) is moving up to 205 pounds to meet Bonnar in the main event of UFC 153 event, which takes place Oct. 13 at Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena.

Silva (32-4) has competed at light heavyweight twice in the UFC, defeating James Irvin and Forrest Griffin by first-round TKO. He's coming off a second-round TKO win over Chael Sonnen at UFC 148. Bonnar (14-7) has won eight of his fourteen fights in the UFC and is currently on a three fight winning streak. He hasn't competed since taking a decision over Kyle Kingsbury last November.

In addition, the co-main event is set as well. Glover Teixeira (16-2) will face off with fellow Brazilian Fabio Maldonado (18-5). Teixeira made a big splash in his UFC debut by smashing Kingsbury in under two minutes at UFC 146. Maldonado is on a two-fight losing streak, but both fights were close and his crowd-pleasing style is a solid matchup for the well-rounded Teixeira.
