The World Series of Fighting will kick off their inaugural event on November 3, 2012, but it won't feature the original commentary team of Bas Rutten, Michael Schiavello and Kurt Angle. Earlier today, Kurt tweeted out the following:
As Requested that I Must Announce, I will not be Commentating @mmaworldseries Nov3 on NBC Sports,Due to A Conflict of Interested— Kurt Angle (@RealKurtAngle) September 10, 2012
I reached out to Ray Sefo, who heads up the new organization to get some clarification, and this is what he had to say via text:
I'm confirming that Kurt won't be doing the commentary due to a conflict of interest with Viacom. I'm told it's just for now, until a few things are sorted out. Renzo Gracie will be replacing Kurt Angle on the commentary team.
Now that is one hell of a commentary team. I think that with that team in place, their freshman event should kick off nicely. I'll post more details as they come in from Mr. Sefo. Stay tuned!
