Rani Yahya defeated Josh Grispi by submission (north south choke) at 3:15 of round one
Sometimes specialists are successful. Rani Yahya is one of those men. Yahya put his elite jiu-jitsu to work in his featherweight UFC on Fox 4 bout with Josh Grispi, getting the young fighter to the ground and expertly making his way into a north south choke. Grispi tried valiantly to defend, but Yayha's ground skills were way too much for him and he was forced to tap out.
Grispi came out striking well early, and seemed to hurt Yahya early. Yahya looked to get the fight to the floor but Grispi sluffed him off. Yahya grabbed a kick and took it down shortly thereafter though. Grispi used good wrist control to stall Yahya initially. Yahya eventually passed to side control halfway through the round. Yahya moved to north south and tried to sink a choke. Grispi tried to worm away but Yahya squeezed away until Grispi tapped.
