As you can see in the video above, Bellator bantamweight champ Eduardo Dantas (14-3) fought Tyson Nam (12-4) in Shooto Brazil 33 - Fight for BOPE 2 tonight and got knocked out 1:40 into the first round. Dantas won the Bellator title by submitting Zach Makovsky at Bellator 65 in April. Dantas got the title shot by winning the Bellator season 5 Bantamweight tournament with wins over Alexis Vila, Ed West and Wilson Reis.

Bellator allows its fighters to take fights outside the organization as long as the fight is held outside the U.S. Clearly that policy came back to bite them tonight. Dantas is currently ranked #7 in the MMA Nation consensus rankings. Nam is unranked.

Dantas is expected to face Bellator season 6 BW tourny winner Marcus Galvao Next. Presumably that fight would happen and then possibly the winner could face Nam in a non-title fight or Nam could be booked in the next tournament.
