There have been several posts saying that a majority of the blame should fall on the UFC not Jon Jones for the fall of UFC 151. I have to say that this is folly and after the scrambling the ufc has done after losing the co-main and taking several other hits to the card to help build up smaller fighters this falls on Jones.
Jones was, as a top star with a Nike sponsorship, supposed to be a company man, the same company that sponsored him last time because he was holding out for that nike deal. Instead, after saying hed not fight machida again because of ppv buys, he decides he wont fight an out of training middleweight on 8 days notice, after a full camp, to waiting for the guy he wouldnt fight again(lets ignore the vitor situation for now). He tanked, canned, sank and entire card full of guys making a fraction of what his sponsorship deal was who were banking on that money to survive.
Lets look at who stepped up, Chael Sonnen, Chris Weidman, Anderson Silva, and now finally VItor stepped up. With Vitor being the final choice after Machida said no, its looking more and more that Jones is simply following the easiest path he can find to keep his belt and his "legacy"
Jones was presented the options, given the consequences and he decided that he was too scared of a bunch of middleweights to do the manly thing and save a card and a pay day that a lot of fighters needed. Instead, he played it safe and as a result many men are in a tight spot and unable to rectify it do to the impulse to be an impetuous child. Jones needed to be a man and be able to stand up and beat an opponent he had no right to lose to, instead he turned tail and ran like a coward
