Chicago MMA fans, this weekend brings a fun MMA show to the city. Cut Throat MMA will be hosting Invasion Chicago Redemption, this Saturday, August 25. The show takes place in the city at the Congress Theater. Tickets are available now on their website, CTFighting.com.
Cut Throat is not a company that brings in big outside names, so you won't see a bunch of UFC veterans on this show. Instead, they focus on up and coming regional talent. There are a lot of small shows that have that same focus, but Cut Throat does some unique things to set them apart from the pack, including using a ranking system, creating partnerships with other affiliate promotions, and profiling the fighters and their gyms. The end result is a product that puts the focus squarely on the fighters and the idea of bringing up new fighters - and to me, it's that kind of focus that makes smaller regional MMA shows so much fun.
For the August 25 show, the fight card is not fully announced, but the following fighters will be competing on the show:
Kyle Casey (Conviction Fitness/Team Madiz)
Donald Johnson (Independent)
Tom Shoaff (CGT MMA)
Dennis Fisher (Boneyard MMA)
Trevor Adesko (Top Notch)
Jarreau Mobley (Boneyard MMA)
Jorge Gonzales (Team Colon)
Mike Bartolomucci (Emerald Smoke MMA)
Danny Oikion (Team Colon)
David Hammons (Team Terror)
JJ Glimer (Team Colon)
Mike Reid (CGT Muay Thai)
Allison Casella (CGT Muay Thai)
Axel Mendes (CGT Muay Thai)
Cut Throat has some nice profile videos on the fighters available on their YouTube channel - check those out, and check the full entry for a promo video.
I'll be at the show and reporting back here at Bloody Elbow next week. Chicago fans - I hope you'll join me Saturday night. And remember to support local MMA!
