Just squeezing in another edition before the weekend as I had missed a previous card that needs mentioning not only for the talented fighters on the card, but for the news that accompanies it. Flawless Fighting Championships has announced their first show in Chicago with such recognizable names as Jake O'Brien, Shamar Bailey, Chase Beebe, and Charles Diaz. O'Brien and Diaz are making their returns to the cage after long layoffs. O'Brien was last seen at DREAM 15, losing to Gegard Mousasi by guillotine, while Diaz defeated notable Pat Curran by split decision back in 2009. But the most surprising part of this news was released by Flawless that they are the official feeder league for Sengoku Global. Apparently Sengoku is trying to make their mark in the States (as well as internationally, hence the Global tag), and will be presenting these shows in a cage format. Very interesting.

Geronimo "Mondragon" Dos Santos will debut with the UFC on October 13 at UFC 153 in Rio, facing Gabriel Gonzaga. A lot of huff and puff is being made about the Dos Santos signing with concerns that he isn't UFC caliber. Some things to consider though: the fight is in Brazil, the heavyweight division is thin, and he's fought a few name opponents in his career. It's not the best prospect signing ever, but given that he's a native fighter with fans in the region, it makes sense for the UFC's business side.
