Headlining the preliminary bouts on ShoExtreme, former Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate was able come back from adversity to armabar Julie Kedzie in the final round of their fight. The two fighters put on a fight of the night performance. In the final sequence, Kedzie dropped Tate with a powerful headkick and went to finish the bout with ground and pound. The former champ was able to recover, regain guard, and immediately latched on to Kedzie's arm. Kedzie did her best to defend the submission, but, in the end she was forced to tap out.

Despite being the underdog, Kedzie came out hard and fast in the first round. She punished Tate for the majority of the first 5 minutes with devastating striking. for her part, Tate remained composed and was even able to threaten Julie with a submission by the end of the round. In the second, Tate looked to reassert herself and dominated the round with her superior grappling, leaving Kedzie constantly defending. The third looked to be a return to Kedzie's first round of dominant striking, but Tate pulled through to secure the victory.
