In the current state of the UFC's flyweight division, their newest and lightest weight class, they're really going to need to add depth quickly. Today, they've made another step towards that as the UFC signed top British flyweight, Phil "Billy" Harris, as noted on MMA Junkie earlier:
Harris' reps at Intensiti Fighter Management today confirmed the signing with MMAJunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), though financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Phil is widely regarded as one of Europe's top flyweight fighters, if not the very best. Harris (21-9) is undefeated at flyweight, and is currently on a five fight winning streak. Of his 21 wins, 17 are stoppages with 14 by submission. He has competed in some of Britain's most notable organizations and now will get his chance to fight the best flyweights from around the world.
Though no opponent or event has been decided for Harris' debut as of yet, his representatives have stated that an announcement should be coming soon. Hopefully we'll get to see if he can prove himself in the UFC sooner than later.
