Report: Jorge Santiago Returns To Strikeforce, Meets Quinn Mulhern

Stay connected for news and updates

It appears that Jorge Santiago will be getting another chance with Zuffa at welterweight. That's the case according to Quinn Mulhern anyway. The Strikeforce fighter took to twitter to announce that he's fighting the former Sengoku middleweight champion in late September:

Santiago (25-10) has fought in Strikeforce before, winning a one-night, four-man tournament in 2007. After his Sengoku run he returned to the UFC but lost bouts to Damien Maia and Brian Stann and was released. He has picked up two wins since then with Titan FC, and said he'd be dropping to 170 for his next bout. Not many figured it'd be in Strikeforce though.

Mulhern (18-2) is seen as a bright welterweight prospect (# 8 on the 2011 BE Scouting Report) and has won three of his four Strikeforce bouts thus far. His only loss came to Jason High in his SF debut.

I would assume this bout would be on the main card of the Sacramento card, but who knows with Strikeforce.
