Prodigal son Jay Hieron returns to the Octagon at UFC 151 on September 1st replacing an injured Josh Koscheck to take on Jake Ellenberger. Hieron last fought in the UFC over a hundred events ago (or roughly seven years) and has become a wandering ronin of sorts participating in WEC, Titan FC, IFL, Affliction, Strikeforce, Bellator, and Legacy FC, before making his way back to the pinnacle of the sport.
Jorge Santiago also returns to the big stage, signing on with Strikeforce (for the 2nd time) to face Quinn Mulhern as he makes his debut at welterweight. Santiago was highly ranked coming into the UFC a year and a half ago but lost in bouts against Brian Stann and Demian Maia at middleweight. After being released, the Sandman fought twice for Titan FC before proclaiming his drop to welterweight. Santiago immediately strengthens the 170 division for Strikeforce and sets up a potentially thrilling trilogy match with Kazuo Misaki.
