Many people thought that the bout between Chad Mendes and Cody McKenzie was some weird matchmaking. Those people were right. It turned out as lopsided as it looked on paper, with Mendes picking up an early TKO victory. McKenzie, who was making his featherweight debut, tried to come out aggressive but took a vicious punch to the body that hurt him. It was just a matter of time after that.

Mendes landed a nice knee inside early. McKenzie threw a bunch of wild kicks that all missed. He then tried to throw
a leg kick, but Mendes caught it and landed a hard punch to the body. McKenzie slumped to the mat, and Mendes jumped all over him with more punches. The finish came just 31 seconds into the fight.

Mendes was coming back from his UFC 142 loss to Jose Aldo, while McKenzie was coming off a win over Marcus LeVesseur.
